As time gradually draws to a close, the atmosphere of farewell quietly fills the campus—there is a kind of affection unwilling to part on one hand, and an eager anticipation for the future on the other hand. In the final month of high school, under the careful guidance and arrangement of Teacher Heather and the student council, the students added a vibrant and memorable chapter to their youth journey with a grand and heartwarming end-of-term performance.
The performance was rich and varied, featuring stage plays, presentations from media arts class, opera performances, and more. It offered both intellectual depth and artistic beauty, radiating the vitality of youth. Every member of the audience was fully immersed, feeling the joy and strength of growing up side by side. Two distinctly different stage plays stood out as highlights of the entire show.
The first play was adapted from American novelist Shirley Jackson’s classic short story, The Lottery. Tragic and laced with irony, the emotions built layer by layer, and the students delivered a delicate and heartfelt performance, slowly revealing the essence and nuance of the work.
Then, the tone shifted dramatically with the second performance—a campus comedy titled The Secrets of Kent School, written and performed by the students under the guidance of Teacher Heather. With familiar settings, exaggerated yet true-to-life characterizations, and a steady stream of laughs, the audience was delighted.
Beyond the wonderful performances, the most anticipated part for the students was the fun-filled awards ceremony. Unlike traditional awards, subject teachers presented a series of unique and affectionate certificates based on the students’ “true performances” at school: “Snack CEO,” “The Living in a Musical Award,” “Future Influencer Award,” and more. Each certificate was the teachers’ recognition and blessings, as well as unique imprints of youth.
This end-of-term performance was not just a showcase of achievements, but also a farewell to youth and a step toward the future. Every beam of light on stage and every round of applause off stage bore witness to the journey they walked together. May the students carry the beautiful memories of this performance, move forward bravely on their future paths, live up to their youth, and always remember this time of growing up together and this pure, passionate chapter of their lives.
