In order to provide in-depth admission guidance and help students intuitively understand the teaching methodologies and academic resources of top universities in North America, teachers and students from Kent School traveled to Ottawa, the capital of Canada, on March 21st for a two-day academic visit to the University of Ottawa.
Upon their arrival at the University of Ottawa, they were warmly welcomed by the Vice President, Provost, professors, admissions officers, and other university leaders. The President of the Chinese Students’ Council also extended a warm reception. During a welcoming meeting, these representatives provided a comprehensive introduction to the academic characteristics and advantages of the University of Ottawa as one of Canada’s premier educational institutions while sharing insights into life in the capital.
The following morning began with an exploration of breakfast culture at the University. Teachers and students then formed groups based on their personal interests to tour various teaching buildings and laboratories across multiple disciplines such as art, health sciences, management, nursing, among others. Lectures delivered by faculty members from diverse departments allowed students to immerse themselves in a university classroom atmosphere while gaining firsthand experience with both pedagogical approaches and academic rigor.
In addition to their academic visits, teachers and students explored Canada’s political center by visiting Parliament Hill for an up-close experience with Canadian political culture. They subsequently visited the Bank of Canada Museum for an insightful understanding of the evolution of global financial systems and operational mechanisms
In addition to academic visits, teachers and students also visited the Canadian political center of the Parliament Building, a close-up experience of Canadian political culture; and then went to the Bank of Canada Museum, an in-depth understanding of the evolution of the world’s financial system and the mechanism of operation.
The academic excellence of the University of Ottawa has opened up a broader frontier of knowledge for Kent students. This educational visit has established a multi-dimensional cognitive platform, allowing students to immerse themselves in the vibrant academic atmosphere and inclusive, diverse culture of the University. They had valuable opportunities for face-to-face interactions with faculty and fellow students, gaining profound insights into the professional characteristics and curricula offered by various colleges. This experience further clarified their future academic aspirations and career trajectories. We hope that this visit will equip students with powerful tools for their academic planning and future development, empowering them to pursue their dreams with confidence.
