From Paper to Pixel:Kent Students’ Creativity Knows No Bounds

When thinking of cardboard, what comes to your mind? Is it the delicate paper-cuts under scissors, or the colorful patterns sketched by a paintbrush? In Kent classrooms, this creativity finds a dual expression: it transforms into “roller coaster tracks” loaded with challenges and joy, and it also integrates into visual arts design with the power of AI. Combining both dynamic and static expressions, two creative classes was blossoming simultaneously, together illustrating Kent’s multifaceted approach to nurturing creativity.

01  Creativity Unleashed on Paper

A classroom session, full of fun and challenge, is quietly igniting students’ creativity. The core task of this lesson was simple: use ordinary cardboard to build a unique roller coaster, allowing a small ball to successfully navigate its way to the end.In the classroom, students quickly divided into teams and collaborated. Some were responsible for conceptualizing the track’s layout, sketching winding and undulating outlines on draft paper. Others focused on adjusting angles, reinforcing the structure, and repeatedly testing the ball’s path. Faces were etched with concentration, and the warmth of their fingertips gave new life to the cardboard.

This hands-on session transcended the simple act of “making a roller coaster.” The tracks they built with their own hands are the trajectories of creativity, the paths of perseverance, and, most importantly, the trajectories of every student’s personal growth.

02  Ingenuity Displayed on Screen

With the rise of AI, our teachers have introduced AI tools into the Visual Arts class. In the classroom, teachers patiently guide students to use AI tools, integrating their imagination into their designs by considering line thickness and color combinations. Students fully unleash their boundless creativity; some use simple lines to outline abstract aesthetics, while others transform inspirations from daily life into unique graphics. Every stroke of design, every choice of color, embodies the young people’s love and understanding of the world.

Whether it’s the cardboard roller coasters or the AI-generated creative artworks, one thing is clear: creativity is never confined to a single form, and there is never a shortage of stages for growth. May every student maintain this curiosity and creativity, break the mold, and dare to experiment, allowing every passion and every ounce of perseverance to blossom into their own unique light.
