Kent students participate in Euclid Mathematics Contest

The Euclid Mathematics Contest, also known as the “TOEFL” of mathematics, attracts students from all over the world who excel in mathematics. On April 6th, 12 students from Zhangwai Campus of Kent School took part in the Euclid Contest. Due to the epidemic, the contest was held online

Written by over 19,000 students worldwide every year, the Euclid Contest gives senior-level secondary-school students the opportunity to tackle novel problems with creativity and all of the knowledge they’ve gained in secondary-school mathematics. The contest’s mix of short-answer and full-solution questions challenges students to practice communicating their thinking, and with the final questions some of the most challenging among all of our contests, the Euclid helps learners build perseverance, a key component of mathematical problem-solving.

The Faculty of Mathematics at the University of Waterloo recommends that applicants to the Faculty write the Euclid Contest.  Senior-level students who write the Euclid Contest and apply to a Faculty of Mathematics program at the University of Waterloo are considered for Faculty of Mathematics Entrance Scholarships. Doing well on the Euclid Contest can help gain admission to the Faculty of Mathematics programs at the University of Waterloo. Certificates of Distinction are awarded to students who score in the top 25% of all contestants. Writing the Euclid Contest will allow you to demonstrate and improve your mathematics skills while having fun doing some math.
