Q: Its is very difficulty to get admitted to the Rodman School and its IELTS requirements are particularly high. How were you able to attain such a high score?

D: Actually, I didn’t use any special study method in my study, but it’s definitely right to follow the teacher’s pace. When  doing homework and listening to lectures, you should be aware of the teacher’s requirements and work hard. Before handing in your homework, be sure to check carefully if you have missed anything, and be sure to do your checks. As for learning IELTS, it is a very long process, so you can’t rush it. You should pay attention to accumulate slowly, usually you can watch more original English films to enhance speaking, and actively memorize words every day. However, don’t be afraid of IELTS, just rush it.

Q: What do you think makes you stand out compared to other students?

D: Actually, we are all at the same level, and there is nothing that stands out about me. I always pay attention to my GPA and focus on any subject that is not satisfactory, so that I can keep improvement my score in the next exam.

Igpay Zhu

I applied to the most number of universities and countries in my class. I applied to Canadian universities, as well as universities in the UK and the Netherlands. I applied for a Media related program. When I got the offer from my dream school, University of Amsterdam, I felt steady that is just like a stone had fallen on the earth. Perhaps this peace of mind also comes from the accumulation of the daily study and extracurricular achievements, and the fact that the efforts made have finally come to fruition.

Every time I received a new offer, I felt more like being recognized. Because after all, there are so many universities, it is impossible to choose all of them. There are some universities that I applied to as a guarantee and a try, so when I received offers from these universities, it was like receiving a letter of award, a feeling of gaining honor. With the recognition of these universities and their admissions officers, I was able to be a little more confident in my future growth.

As the number of offers I received increased, I slowly struggled with which university to choose, taking into account the country, ranking and major factors. After the advice from my parents and teachers, and talking with my friends and classmates, I finally decided to pursue further development in my major.

Hades zhang

He has received offers from Physics program of University College London, Manchester University, and Bristol University.

  • Quick Learner
  • Cool guy

Q: Can you share your favorite subject throughout the three years of high school and related study methods?

H: My favorite subject was physics. It is honestly a subject that is quite testing to learn by example. In fact, I think the most critical skill in my learning process is the linkage between formulas. When you see a physics formula, you can immediately link it to a physical quantity in another formula. If you can connect 90% of the formulas to each other, then you really master the physics.

Q: Can you share the reasons for choosing UCL and the secrets of successful university applications?

H: When I added programs in Ucas, I actually chose the three universities of G5 schools and added the University of Manchester. I had a cold in the Oxford PAT, and unfortunately I got a very simple question wrong and failed. My grades were A+ in all 4 Alevels, and I also got Gold Medal in Round 1 of the British Physics Olympiad, a special medal in CSMC, and plus an IELTS score of 7.0. My academic background is that I got a letter of recommendation from a researcher at the Institute of High Energy Physics of the Chinese Academy.
